CSA Club Mission Statement        In our world today, technology is the backbone which supports and affects our everyday life from business to our personal cell phones. The abilities of a company’s technical staff can make or break that company. Having strong technical students graduate from John Jay gives the college overall, a good reputation. While many seem unaware, John Jay currently possesses a unique master’s degree in Forensic Computing. This degree is currently not available at any other four year institution on the Eastern coast of the United States. The majority of CIS (computer information systems) majors at the college are interested in pursuing this degree major. Those who are fortunate enough to complete this degree have achieved a top security degree in the computer field.        Reputation seems to be everything, or at least substantially important. A computer club can act as means for information exchange between its members, learning new information to aid in our learning, and enhance the educational experience at our school. We are all striving to succeed and to get the most out of life with the time we are given. While the computer club may not be the most popular club, or throw huge parties, its existence is vital to the continued success and reputation of our school.        The club offers workshops, (that aid and enhances the learning in computers), as well as hands-on experience for its members. We have field trips, raffle off computer hardware and other prizes at our meetings. We have books and magazines readily available for our members (computer and security related), as well as guest speakers who enlighten the CSA Club members on new and exciting developments within the industry. Most importantly, the CSA club is a family amongst its members, we help fix people’s PCs and overcome technical difficulties as they come to us together as a unified body. During the upcoming semester, we look forward to seeing you at out Plug and play contest challenge, where students will be racing each other for a prize to see who can build a PC together from scratch the fastest. Join today! Thank you. Sincerely, CSA Club, Spring 2006 |
